Hijos de Maiz Spanish School is a unique, community-based learning experience where students and groups from all over the world come to learn Spanish while living alongside Nicaraguan families in the countryside.

Live with a local family and enjoy 4 hours of private class per day, taught completely in Spanish.

Our community

Our community, El Lagartillo, was formed as a farming co-operative as part of the Sandinista revolution in 1980. La Escuela Hijos de Maiz was formed with the same spirit of community and operates as a project that involves and benefits the people of El Lagartillo.
